"Sharing The Gospel" - Steve Wiggins Special Devotional Series
Man, Oh Man!
In our last email, we explored two questions that you might ask someone (who is not a believer), in order to further a conversation about G_d and Heaven. I also included some Bible verses that support G_d’s desired answers to those questions:
Q-1) Do you know, for certain, that you are going to be with G_d in Heaven?
“I have written these things to you who believe in the Name of the Son of G_d, so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13
Q-2) If G_d were to ask you, “Why should I let you into Heaven?”, what would you answer?
“Yeshua answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
I also defined “GRACE” as a gift from G_d, and explained the Bible’s claim that salvation is not EARNED by good deeds/works. Rather, salvation is G_d’s GIFT to mankind. His GIFT is that their faith would be counted as righteousness, given that the object of their faith is to follow Messiah Yeshua, to believe on His atoning work (which He accomplished on our behalf) and in the truth His resurrection.
“For it is by GRACE that we are saved, through faith. It is the GIFT of G_d, not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
TODAY, let’s consider mankind. WHY can’t man earn his own salvation? Because all humans sin.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of G_d.” Romans 3:23
SIN, is a term used to describe “falling short” of G_d’s law. Sin includes such things as lying, cheating, deceit, evil thoughts, immoral behavior…and more. In fact, the Bible says that we are ALL born into sin.
“Indeed, I was guilty when I was born; I was sinful when my mother conceived me.” Psalm 51:5
Because of this innate sinfulness, we cannot save ourselves. We are sinners; we miss the mark, yet we are in the presence of a perfect G_d.
“Be therefore perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect” Matthew 5:48
SO, we clearly see man’s PREDICAMENT: He is a sinner in the presence of G_d, Whose standard is perfection. HOW will mankind commune with G_d? WHO will bridge the gap between the two?
