DANCE MINISTRY

Messianic dance includes Jewish folk dance steps set to traditional & contemporary worship music. The purpose is to worship the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as David did. Psalm 149:3 “Let them praise His Name with dancing”. Psalm 150:4 “Praise Him with timbrel and dancing”. Davidic (Messianic) Dance is a physical expression of praise, thanksgiving and joy to G-d. Our Dance Ministry serves to complement and enhance the experience of congregational worship through various forms of dance that is well-rehearsed and tastefully choreographed. The Hebrew word for dance is rikud, which means “to skip or leap for joy.” Some of the Messianic Davidic dances are patterned after traditional Israeli folk dances; others are originally choreographed by Messianic Jewish believers. Messianic Jewish dances range from the reverential and devotional to the exuberantly joyful. Dancers include men, women, teenagers and young children. All celebrations (i.e. bar- and bat-mitzvahs, weddings, Seders, social gatherings, etc.) as well as worship services are appropriate times to dance. Messianic Jewish Dance plays an important role in uniting Jewish and Gentile believers in praising the L-rd.

Learn to Dance
Immediately following services, dance classes are held in the Family Life Center where participants can come, fellowship and learn the praise and worship dances that are led each Shabbat. No prior dance experience required, just a heart to learn to dance!

8:30 AM Shabbat Morning Review
A “warm-up” dance review is held every Shabbat morning prior to the start of service. This is not a dance class; it is a time to quickly review the dances that we be danced to the worship band’s music set. Open to anyone who would like a little practice prior to service.
