Evangelism: Do You KNOW?

Let’s suppose you have struck-up a conversation with someone. You have already asked this person his/her STORY (A conversation tool we covered last week). You understand their personal background, their goals and passions in life, and you have shared YOUR story…about how you came to believe that Yeshua is the Messiah and have committed yourself to follow Him. Furthermore, you have shared about how G_d has a standard for ALL of mankind and you have shared the 10 Commandments, asking them how well they believe that they are measuring-up to G_d’s standard.

NOW, let’s focus on a couple of very simple questions, borrowed from our friends at Evangelism Explosion.

Q-1) Do you know, for certain, that you are going to be with G_d in Heaven?

The answers to this question are varied. Some people say “Yes, because I put my faith & Trust in Yeshua (Jesus), alone!” Obviously, they are believers. But let’s focus on the OTHERS, the people who say “No, I do not know for certain.” Or they may say, “I do not believe that a person can ever know for sure.”

To either answer, you can share this verse: “I have written these things to you who believe in the Name of the Son of G_d, so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13 It is possible to know for certain! In fact, that is why the Bible exists!

Q-2) If G_d were to ask you, “Why should I let you into Heaven?”, what would you answer?

Some people may say, “G_d will let me into Heaven, because I have been a good person.” Perhaps, they would admit, “I am not perfect, but I am better than many others.”

To them, you can share that the Bible says that salvation is not earned by human effort. Rather, salvation comes exclusively through a personal relationship with Messiah Yeshua (Jesus): “Yeshua answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

Salvation comes not from an accumulation of good deeds/works. It comes as a GIFT from G_d, purchased by Yeshua’s atoning sacrifice. The word GRACE literally means “gift”.

“For it is by GRACE that we are saved, through faith. It is the GIFT of G_d, not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Try memorizing those 2 QUESTIONS, as well as the (aforementioned) verses that support the Bible’s claims to salvation by GRACE through FAITH in Yeshua, alone.
